Happy October – Cheers to Two Years!

It's been two really fast years since Susan took over Wooly Bully. These have been two amazing years, and we want to thank everyone for all of your support, encouragement, and positive vibes. Cheers to two years!

October is proving to be a busy month, and finding a day for a single celebration is difficult – so instead we're having a month-long celebration with specials and new products arriving weekly!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In addition to being our anniversary month, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month – an observation dear to us.

Look for commemoration activities later in the month to honor this important awareness.

UFO Finishing Challenge – A Great Success!

The September UFO Finishing Challenge was a great success – SO many finished projects! Could this become a yearly event?

We drew the winners live on Facebook on Thursday, and all of the winners have been called. Congratulations, everyone!

Big News: Two Exciting New Lines!

It is our excitement and pleasure to announce that we have been approved to carry two really exciting lines!

Re:Designed Project Bags – these have arrived in our shop! They are amazing, high quality leather project bags, designed with knitters' and crocheters' needs especially in mind, and imported from Denmark. We have a variety of the products in the shop showing off the various colors of leather available.

We will be taking prepaid, non-returnable orders for our first official order of these bags, at 10% off. Keep in mind you also get your loyalty card credit, which basically equates to another 10% in store credit back to you. First pre-orders need to be placed by October 15.

Ashford Wheels and Looms – look for these in mid October. Ashford is a world leader in the design and manufacture of high-quality spinning wheels, weaving looms, and textile craft equipment.

We will also be taking prepaid, non-returnable orders for our first official order of these products, priced at 10% off – plus your loyalty card credit.

Seasonal Colorwork

Explore stranded color work using Doodle patterns to create your own seasonal headband, hat, or cowl.

Teacher: Lisa Loftin

Date/Times: October 12 & 19, 4-6 PM

Cost: $35

Yarn: DK weight in two colors with good contrast

Needle: #5 circular needle, 16" or 24"

Pattern: If you do a pattern search on Ravelry for “Autumn Doodle Lomax” you will see a variety of patterns for hats, cowls, and scarves using various Doodle motifs. There is a cup cozy as well, but you will need to use Magic Loop, DPNs, or shortie circulars for small diameter knitting.

Skills required: Comfortable knitting and purling in the round.

If your chosen project starts with ribbing, please complete the ribbing prior to the first class.

3rd Sunday Gift Series: Felted Small Bag

Instructor: Vicky Lee

Brooklyn Crochet Wrap

Instructor: Joni McDonald

Dates: October 24 & November 7

Cost: $35

Yarn: Blue Sky Woolstok – one mini bundle and three 150 gram skeins of a coordinating solid color. (Available in our shop.)

Hook: H (5mm)

Pattern: “Brooklyn Crochet Wrap” by Bobbi IntVeld – please purchase on Ravelry prior to class.

Skills required: Chain, double crochet.

Kaleidoscope Shawl

We will create a beautiful poncho/shawl and practice basic seaming using the mattress stitch.

Yarn: 2 Prairie (Blue Sky Fibers) and 1 bundle Woolstok Light or 1 Zauberball (100 grams)

Needle: US 11 or 10, 32"

Pattern: Kaleidoscope Wrap by Michael Vloedman

Skills required: Beginning knitting skills.

The wrap is worked holding 2 strands together with Prairie as the main color. After blocking to given dimensions, some seaming is required.

Another Felted Bag Class

Knit, felt, and needle felt a beautiful bag using colors of your choice. We will learn to create I-cord handles and needle felt designs on our felted bags.

Date/Time: Sunday, 11/8, 2:00-4:00 PM

Cost: $35

Yarn: Woolstok, Cascade 220, Lucky Tweed, or any non-superwash wool.

Needle: US 10-11, 32" (2 pairs of needles will make it easier for creating the base and increase section)

Pattern: The pattern for all 3 sizes of bags will be provided.

Skills required: Cast on, cast off, pick up and knit, and basic knit and purl stitches.

We will decide when to meet again to finish the project and add needle felted shapes to our bags.

New Yarn: Juniper Moon Farm Cotton Merino Chic

A worsted weight blend of cotton, merino wool, and a little bit of shimmery polyester. We have several colors in stock ready to make a glimmery holiday top.

This sweater sample in the shop shows the subtle elegance of this yarn.

New Yarn: Juniper Moon Farm Glimmer

A cotton-based lace weight blend of cotton/nylon/polyester. Fine metallic accents add sparkly pizzazz to your garments.

Deborah knit this classic “Close to You” wrap holding SMW Suri with Glimmer to create a stunning evening accessory!

New Yarn: Malabrigo Torzal

This two-ply DK/sport-weight yarn, made from pure Superwash Merino wool, randomly blends multicolored tones throughout the strand. Its appearance evokes the charm of handspun yarn.

Scott knit this very cool “Sk8er Hat” by Max the Knitter, using two colors of the Torzal.

New Yarn: Rambouillet Air

Made in America from 64% American wool, 28% American cotton, and 8% nylon, it pairs the natural warmth, resilience, and beautiful stitch definition of Rambouillet wool with the breathable softness of cotton.

Worked at a bulky gauge of 12-15 stitches per 4 inches, Rambouillet Air creates cozy fabric with plenty of presence while offering a generous 251 yards in each 100-gram skein.

New Yarn: Ella Rae Flux

This versatile DK weight yarn is 53% wool, 47% acrylic. It is a fun striping yarn and is machine washable (cold) – a fun, colorful yarn for holiday gift giving.

Private lessons are always available to learn something new or get help with a project!

Instruction with David

Fathers, brothers, sons, boyfriends, significant others, and new knitters interested in private knitting lessons, please contact David at the shop. Projects could include hats, scarves, shawls, and more.

Each session lasts 1.5 hours and is $25 per lesson. These can be arranged to suit your schedule.

We are considering starting a Men's Knit Night this fall – please let us know if you or anyone you know might be interested!
